Others do not realize
“We here are struggling.”
Those who realize this – for them
Are quarrels therefore quelled.
Unlike those who don’t realize
that we’re here on the verge
those who do:
their quarrels are stilled.
There are those who do not realize that one day we all must die. But those who do realize this settle their quarrels.
Not noticing this at first, on returning to these passages the ‘we’ rings clear. It is we who struggle. It is we who are perishing. Not just them. Not just I. But we. This life, planet, joy, pain, and ease is our common heritage. May we awaken to all that we share with one another!
